My Favorite Resort

I'm often asked to name my favorite resort, and it's literally impossible for me to do so, because my favorite depends on which destination I'm visiting, and my purpose for being there.

If it's a solo visit in which I'm looking for peace, quiet, a boutique style resort, gourmet food and direct ocean front views, then El Dorado Maroma fits the bill. My first visit there was to relax and reflect on turning 45 years old, and it was exactly what I needed to turn everything off, and be still in my thoughts.

The resort sits on the Maroma Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Cancun, if not the world. The sand was very cool and powdery soft, with a silkiness to it. I absolutely abhor sand, but I enjoyed it so much that I removed my sandals and walked barefoot on the beach.

I chose to stay in the Infinity Pool Jacuzzi Suite, which had a king sized bed, a plunge pool on the balcony, (yep, even in my 3rd floor suite), an in suite jacuzzi, and the best surprise of all was the "Aguas del Amor", an outdoor shower.

I was welcomed into the resort, and greeted with a glass of champagne, and a cool towel with hints of lavender.

The food was delicious! Karisma is very serious about offering gourmet inclusive services. I began each day at my favorite table, which offered direct views of the Palafitos Overwater Bungalow.

The resort had a relaxed vibe, yet there was fun to be had at the pool with the volleyball games, live music and onsite entertainment.

El Dorado Maroma shares the beach with Maroma Adventures. They offer excursions, such as: catamaran tours, speed boats, camel rides, jet skis, etc.

The adults only, all inclusive resort has 7 restaurants, 4 bars, 3 pools, and 157 rooms. It also offers free international calling and complimentary WIFI.

Palafitos - Overwater Bungalows are also located on this property, along with Mi Hotelito.
